Mrs Wendy Lourens
Wendy was born in the bustling metropolis of Benoni and her parents moved to Durban when she was 9 years old. She matriculated at Gelofte High in Pinetown in 1982. She was selected to represent Natal Schools at netball and captained the side that year. She studied at the Durban Teachers’ Training College and upon getting her degree started her teaching career at Queensburgh Girls High. It was during these years that her children, Jayden and Amber were born.
She was headhunted by the Crawford Schools and taught there until her husband received the headship at Mooi River Primary in 1998. This began a new chapter in her life when she was appointed at Treverton College as a Grade Head and a member of the school’s management team. She spent 10 happy years there and achieved much whilst in the Midlands. She moved to Ramsgate with her husband and family in September 2008 and was appointed as the College Headmistress in January 2011.
Wendy has a deep love for teenagers and although challenging, they never cease to amaze her!
